As the workouts increase in intensity, the requirements of nutrients also increase.
The regular diet followed by people before the start of workouts will not be enough to replenish the increased consumption of nutrients. There is a definite need to change the diet in tune to the requirements of nutrients. A balanced body building diet replaces the nutrients that are lost due to the increased activity levels and muscle regeneration and development.
The diet pattern and intake must also keep changing to keep abreast of the changing workout schedules. A well balanced body building diet must include comprehensive planning for food intake for all the meals. A body building diet can be segregated into three categories; Pre-workout, post workout and regular meal.
Pre-workout diet is the food intake that is taken one to one and half hours prior to the workout.
It is important to have a gap between the meal intake and the start of workout to give time for the digestion of food. Workouts cause exhausting stress to the muscles and tissues of the body. There is considerable damage to the muscles and they need nutrients to be able to take continued stress.
Bodybuilding workouts stimulate the muscle development by vigorously activating them. The development process needs a lot of proteins and the pre-workout meal must include adequate amounts of easily digestible proteins. This meal must also include a lot of carbohydrates and fats. Exercises cause a lot of energy to be expounded ad the body needs instant replenishment of energy.
